The Subjugated Races

These are core PC races. They each have been subjugated by the Dragons.
For information regarding character creation for the acceptable PC races, see the Races page.

The Bruintaur

This race of warrior priests have the lower body of a bear, with the upper body resembling more that of the Verdanni in shape and size.

The bruintaur mostly reside on the great frozen glaciers of the south. They get along well with Dazhdhvog and the Verdanni.

The culture of the bruintaur most closely resembles that of the Norse of our own history, with elements of Native American culture as well.

The Humans

The humans are the "newest" race of Kaernest. They came here only 400 years ago, through a magical portal that led to their home world, known on Kaernest as "Hume". These people were first met and befriended by the bruintaur but their numbers and people have spread across the lands of Kaernest, and many now live with the different races of Kaernest. Humans have a tendency to adapt to be more like the race they are living with. Within 2 generations, they typically have changed enough to seem as if a "subrace". Even those who have left one group to go live with another soon notice their offspring seeming more like those who already lived in that area.

The Bragni

Human friends of the Bruintaur, who live among them.

The Consanguineo

Human friends of the Verdanni, who live among them.

The Tavorshk

Human friends of the Dazhdvog, who live among them.

The Zaranni

Human protectorate of the Q'nassi, who live in the lands between the Q'nassi tribes, and in their cities.

The Dazhdvog

This race of proud stout warriors have hard stone like deposits on their dark colored tough skin and large gem-colored irises in their eyes. Their skin tones range from pale gray to jet black and they have no hair on their bodies whatsoever. The stone deposits are not always the same colors as their actual "skin".
The Dazhdvog live primarily in the central mountainous regions and below the glaciers of the south. They prefer to live underground or at least in stone buildings.
Their culture is somewhat like that of the Russians of our own history.

The Freylings

This diminutive winged race can most easily be summed up as "opportunists". While they do have their moral limits, most Freylings have a loose code of ethics and little understanding of authority. Despite their lack of strong integrity, Freylings have a strong tendency for loyalty. Freylings are very small, lanky people, with insect like wings.
The Freylings live in the higher peaks of the northern mountains, in places inaccessible to those without their ability to fly.
Their culture is very loosely based on the Romani of our own history.

The Q'nassi

This four legged reptilian race of philosophers has an innate ability to lighten and darken their skin tone. While not able to actually change color, changing from a bright, near-white color to dark-as-night colors helps them camouflage themselves very well. They have long tails.
Q'nassi culture somewhat mimics the culture of the Arabians, some being nomadic, and others forming cities.

The Sektari

The Sektari are a nocturnal race of short fuzzy people, with reversed knees and large pointy serrated ears and all large nearly white-less eyes.
Sektari culture is based loosely on Egyptian culture of our world.

The Verdanni

A plant-based race, with a look similar to elves of other worlds. Their skin is green with colorful extremities. The race lives across a group of islands and the coast of the mainland that runs along side these islands.
Verdanni culture is based largely on Venetian culture, along with some Roman and generic Italian influences as well.
