From Caernest
There's been quite a few people over the years that have had an effect on me as a gamer. Some have affected me a lot (even if they didn't know it), some have effected me much less, but still had an effect on me.
Glenn & Sergio - I game with these guys every year (Glenn still owes me for this year). I think it would be near impossible for anyone to continually impact my gaming more than these two.
Kevin - He is in a class of his own. As a GM he molded me during my "early years". As a player, he was a challenge that I tried to keep up with. He taught me more about being a GM than everyone else combined (not from lack of effort, and I still give Dan credit for one of the most important lessons I ever learned about GMing).
Keith, Sean, Jesse, Dan, Sal, Frank, Mark & Cori - This is my core group. Some of these guys I game with on a weekly basis. If they had known me when I was younger, they probably would have had more of an effect on me, but they got to me too late to mold me as much. Frank and Mark, man I miss gaming with these guys; you guys will absolutely be getting invitations to next year's "Geekfest".
Lance, Tom, Dave, Dan, Drew, Brian & Novitas - The amount I've learned about gaming from LARPing stuns me. I've learned some tips and tricks over the last few years that are now part of my gaming mantra. It was Novitas that taught me what I truly enjoy about gaming ("Socialist Gamer" for the win). Some of the things I've learned from LARPing have become life lessons. I guess when you put 60 geeks in a camp and tell them to play nice, you're going to become educated.
Bill, Ed, Bob, Mike - I miss gaming with these guys. They may not have had much impact on who I am as a gamer, but I enjoyed sitting at the table with them.
Chris "Buttplug", Jake, Vinny, Rob, Joshua, Dan "Pussy Troll", "Beavis" - It's only fair I mention these guys. While I consider them all people I hope to never have to game with again, they had an impact on the gamer I am. Some of these guys are the roots of some of the most bizarre gaming stories I have. I can't say that I miss gaming with them, or I hope to ever game with them again, but it could be said that we get more XP from our failures than we do our successes.
